Your Free Guide to Injury Compensation and How to Claim

Accidents happen. Unfortunately, due to another person’s negligence or failure to put appropriate safeguards in place, an innocent person is hurt or injured, or worse. We are Personal Injury Claim Solicitors and our experience helps innocent parties receive redress for a needless injury that could or should have been avoided.

When an accident happens, it is a stressful event. It can result in time off work, and loss of income. Sometimes, it has a long-term impact on a person’s quality of life. In tragic instances, it may result in fatality. Speaking to a Personal Injury Solicitor may be the last thought you have as there are so many worries to deal with, but when you do you should look to a firm who understands and who you can trust.

Talking to an expert solicitor will help you understand your situation. It can be important to do certain things at certain times, like making a record whilst everything is fresh or seeing a specialist to help your physical recovery. We also help you avoid any pitfalls. Like feeling you have to use your insurer’s recommended law firm. They are often under pressure to make sure they get paid, which could mean they pressure you to ‘under-settle’ your claims – and you get less compensation than you should have. Our experience will help protect you and get your life back on track. We will help answer the most common question “What is my claim worth” by assessing your injuries. Sometimes we can estimate at the beginning but this will depend upon the extent of your injuries.

The last thing anyone usually thinks of after an accident is compensation. Your initial concern is, of course, recovery.

However an unfortunate accident can have ongoing repercussions on your life, and your financial circumstances. As the accident was not your fault, you shouldn’t have to suffer.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I make a claim?
Our advice is always the same –as soon as you possibly can, when you feel you are able to do so. In the first instance, you should always report the accident to the relevant authorities, such as your local police or employer. If it’s possible, record the names and addresses of any witnesses. And any further information about the accident, such as obtaining clear photographs, will help your case. You are more likely to recall the circumstances of your accident while it’s still fresh in your mind so the sooner you speak to us the better.

How do I know if I can make a claim or not?
If you have suffered an injury (whether physical or psychological) in an accident which was not your fault, then you may be able to make a claim for the pain and suffering you have had to endure. Plus you can claim for your medical costs and any loss of earnings. With all personal injury claims, you have to prove that the injury, (or illness) was caused as a result of negligence. This could be the fault of your employer, your local council, or another driver. We will to put together the best possible case for you. If you’re not sure that you have a valid claim, you can speak to one of our team free of charge who will assess your claim.

Is there a time limit for making a claim?
Yes. In most cases you have 3 years from the date of the accident to settle the matter. You can make a claim at any point during these 3 years, but we would advise speaking to one of our personal injury lawyers as early after the accident as you can.

How long will a claim take?
Each claim is very different and there are many different factors that affect the outcome. So we wouldn’t be able to tell you this until your claim was underway. The average settlement time for relatively straightforward personal injuries, such as basic fractures, is within 6-8 months. And if you have a simple case, such as for whiplash, a settlement may be reached in a matter of weeks.
