Divorce & Family
Here we speak of the new Civil Partnerships as well as Divorce. Both are
now treated almost identically by the Courts (although adultery is not available
to the gay community)
Derek Forrest (30 years experience) has been a lifelong member of Resolution (formerly Solicitors
Family Law Association) and consequently his aim is to resolve matters outside
the courts wherever possible.
In the first place you will be advised over the telephone (unless you live
locally) and this should enable you to discuss the important issues with
your partner. If an agreement is then possible we can write with the formal
terms, or at least your proposals. Ultimately if proceedings are necessary
we have fixed fees for Divorce and a time costing system for the other proceedings,
on children and property, so you can see exactly how much you have spent
to date.
Costs for a divorce (including initial advice with Derek Forrest) = £586.32 Inc.VAT Half payable in advance + £340 Court Fees.
Pre And Post Nuptual Agreements
English law has allowed cohabiting couples to make binding agreements but as
soon as they married the law intervened and took away any certainty.
There are signs that this is changing and we would now go as far as to
recommend that couples wishing to marry but preserve their assets enter
into a prenuptual agreement.
Unfortunately the law is very complex here and it is important that the
procedure is followed and the latest wording included in the agreement.
Solicitor Direct can provide all this for you!
Whilst we cannot give you a fixed price we would suggest you be prepared
to pay some £250 to £300.
